Standing there with your hands on my sides
The grin on your face mirrored in mine
Our laughter could be heard down the road
This moment too sweet-can I make it pause?
These words are caught in my throat
As my eyes get pulled to the lightning from afar
The thunder above echoes our applause
A kiss on the forehead nearly pushed me over the edge
Butterflies rise inside as a sigh escapes
If I could only get this out- do you know I feel this way?
This memory remains now- on my heart engraved
With my cheek in your hand, my lips ready to say your name
Yet as we said goodbye I watched my moment slip away
Still I whispered those words to the dark in your wake.
